A beautifully retouched image should be visually arresting whilst revealing no trace of how it was achieved. It requires infinite attention to detail and a compulsion to achieve perfect results. The images that I produce are as much a matter of personal pride as of professional obligation.
I started retouching whilst still at school, then went on to study fine art and graphic design, I received the most vital part of my education growing up in and around of photographic studios and labs.
My father, Ray Massey, was considered one of the most iconic photographers working in advertising through the eighties, producing groundbreaking effects before digital retouching existed, using purely light and cameras. From him I inherited a desire for experimentation, for finesse and for using the tools at my command to the absolute limits of their capabilities.
Since becoming freelance in 2001, I have worked with a diverse, international, range of clients, from industry giants BBDO, Interbrand, Saatchi, lowes, McCanns and Mert & Marcus to pioneering experimental photographers such as Nitin Vadukul. Each new partnership affords me fresh challenges & enthusiasm.
